In-Office Zoom Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry treatments available, which should come as no surprise since foods and drinks consumed daily, aging, and genetics all contribute to the discoloration of teeth. At Brick Row Dentistry, we offer Zoom in-office and take home professional whitening for results that may be up to eight shades brighter.
In-office whitening is great for those patients who want to see dramatic results right away. The entire procedure takes an hour and thirty minutes in our office, and the improvements are stunning. Many patients also appreciate that the dentist is there to monitor and provide guidance throughout treatment.
At-Home Tooth Whitening
Unlike the store-bought teeth whitening brands, our take home whitening kits use custom application trays that seal in the whitening gel and seal out neutralizing saliva. At-home whitening is also great for those patients who want to touch up their in-office whitening. Patients who have sensitive teeth are often able to achieve their whitening goals more comfortably with take home kits than they can with in-office treatment, which may increase sensitivity.
Tooth-Colored Fillings
Over the past several years, dentists have started to shift away from using traditional, silver-colored amalgam filling material. Instead, many dental practitioners recommend using tooth-colored, composite resin filling material to restore dental function without marring the appearance of patients’ smiles. In addition to the cosmetic benefits associated with composite resin fillings, there are several advantages for oral health, including:
- The composite resin filling or tooth colored filling restores natural shape and color better than metal amalgam filling.
- Amalgam expands and contracts with changes in temperature, which can cause additional damage to teeth.
- The stronger bond between composite resin and tooth enamel makes these fillings longer lasting than amalgams, even though the material itself is not as strong.
Porcelain/Ceramic Veneers
For those patients who want to hit the reset button on their smiles without undergoing extensive or complex restorative, cosmetic, or orthodontic treatments, porcelain/ceramic veneers may offer the ideal solution. These thin sheaths of dental grade porcelain resemble egg shells before they’re placed. Usually a minimal amount of surface enamel is removed from the fronts of teeth to prepare them. The procedure is completely comfortable, but because outer tooth layer is removed, veneers are not reversible. For this reason, we take time to help patients understand the way veneers will look and feel when they are placed to ensure the results exceed their expectations.
Like crowns and other restorative procedures, veneers typically require two appointments. During the first visit, a small amount of outer tooth layer is removed from teeth and impressions are taken. These impressions are used by the lab to create a custom veneer. In the meantime, patients receive a temporary veneer to help them get used to the way their smile restoration will feel. Once the final porcelain/ceramic veneer arrives at our office, patients return to exchange the temporary for the permanent solution. Porcelain/ceramic veneers are a great solution to conceal cracks, chips, stains, gaps, irregular tooth shape and other smile flaws quickly and effectively.
All-Ceramic Restorations
One of the many treatment options we offer that blurs the line between cosmetic and restorative care, all-ceramic restorations offer cosmetically perfect solutions that create long lasting, durable results. Traditional restoration materials include gold, metal alloys, and porcelain bonded to metal. Even the most natural looking option, porcelain bonded to metal, tends to develop darkly colored bands near the root over time. All-ceramic restorations are matched to teeth all the way through, even reflecting and absorbing light in the same way as tooth enamel. Also, they do not wear away and expose darker colored material below. Additionally, all-ceramic restorations are stain-resistant, protecting teeth from stains and keeping restored teeth looking brighter for years. The restoration process is no different than other restoration processes. Typically, all-ceramic crowns, inlays, onlays, and bridges require two appointments to place. We work with some of the most trusted ceramics labs to craft all-ceramic restorations from the highest quality materials for only the best results.
